Ancelotti chooses the best centre back in the world: “His only defect is that he isn’t handsome”
Spanish giants, Real Madrid, qualified for the Champions League quarter-finals this week after beating Liverpool, and will next face another English opponent, Chelsea.
Now Real Madrid are turning their attention to domestic affairs, which is vital, as they go into Sunday’s Clasico nine points behind Barcelona in LaLiga.
In the press conference before the big game, Ancelotti repeated his earlier praise for Militao, hailing him as the best defender in the world.
“Militao is really quick, really good at one-on-one, he’s really good on the ball and he can head the ball really well,” Ancelotti said.
The experienced manager also highlighted how the defender has improved, and laughed as he lightly joked about the 25-year-old who was signed from Porto in 2019.
He added jokingly: “Perhaps one of the drawbacks is that he is not always 100% focused. So, I can’t say it’s perfect. Oh, and he’s also not very handsome.”
Militao joined Real Madrid four years ago, and is part of the team that won the La Liga title twice in three years, in addition to the Champions League title last year.
