Bellingham’s family announces his next favorite club

According to press reports, Jude Bellingham’s family indicated their approval of the player’s transfer to a specific team, considering him as a candidate to sign with the English star in the summer.

The 19-year-old has starred for Borussia Dortmund since his move to the Bundesliga in 2020, with the midfielder’s reputation cemented with a string of impressive performances for England at the Qatar World Cup.

Bellingham has previously spoken of the influence of his family on his love of the game of football, recalling how his mother Denise used to take him to watch his father Mark play in amateur matches.

Mark Bellingham has scored over 700 goals in around 900 appearances for clubs including Leamington, Stourbridge and Sutton Coldfield Town.

He was juggling his non-league career with his day job as a West Midlands Police Sergeant. “It’s where I started to have this love for football,” Jude Bellingham told the Guardian in 2020. I think you can see in the way I play that I watched the matches from a young age.

He added, “That non-league style of toughness and grit when you want it to be… I think that comes from watching my dad play – even though he never got involved!”

And Christian Volk, head of the sports department in the German magazine Bild, reported that Bellingham’s talks are more advanced with Liverpool, adding that his family is keen to complete this deal with the English club.

Falk said, “Yes. Liverpool is the candidate to sign Jude Bellingham (19 years old) from Borussia Dortmund next summer. The talks are more advanced than the talks with Real Madrid. The Bellingham family prefers to move to the Reds.”

For its part, the British newspaper Daily Mail reported that Liverpool is also ahead of its Premier League rival Manchester City in the race to sign Bellingham, and Chelsea is also expected to participate in the race, as they seek to strengthen the midfield position.

Yesterday, Paris Saint-Germain President Nasser Al-Khelaifi announced the interest of the Ligue 1 champion in contracting with Bellingham. Al-Khelaifi praised Bellingham’s offers in Qatar in an interview with Sky News, but said that any attempt by Paris Saint-Germain to sign him would first go through his current club out of “respect”.

Al-Khelaifi said: “A wonderful player, what a player he is. England are lucky to have him, frankly. He’s one of the best players in the tournament, he’s great. First World Cup, calm and relaxed – yet confident. he is amazing. Listen, everyone wants it and I’m not going to hide it. But respectfully, he’s in his club. If we want him, we will talk to his club.”
